Now as the football season’s under way, people generally know who’s hot, and who’s not. However, not all fantasy football managers know the right strategies to help in getting their team to the top. Unless you have the best players in the league, you need strategies to help you get on top. Here are some to start you off:
1. When it comes to choosing a third running back or receiver, take running back!
In some leagues, people have a choice as to whether they should take a third running back or wide receiver. The smart decision is to take the running back. First of all, running backs are more consistent than wide receivers. If you have a running back on a team that likes to run, then there is a good chance that you will have solid points for him. But, if you have a wide receiver on a team that likes to pass, that doesn’t mean that the player will get lots of points. Wide receivers have competition that can take their points, running backs don’t. Only the top wide receivers usually get consistent points every week. But, they won’t be your third choice, so you don’t have to worry about that. Now, that doesn’t mean that you should take a running back even though he has done nothing all season. If you have a good wide receiver, and you have no other good running backs, then you can take the wide receiver. But, if you are in that situation, your team is in trouble because you should have more than two good running backs.
2. The strength of the opposing team matters when setting your lineup, but don’t let it prevent you from playing your star players!
When setting your line-up each week, obviously the strength of the opponent is a factor. However, the strength should mainly be used to determine players that are about even in ability. You don’t want to question whether to start one of your top three players just because they are playing a tougher opponent. For example, the Pittsburg Steelers currently have the second best defense in the league based on yards per game. But don’t let that stop you from playing Arian Foster! Any top player has the ability to have an incredible fantasy day regardless of who they are facing. You should play them every week in case they do great.

I agree, the better decision is to take the running back. Overall, they are more consistent and will give you more chances of points. The exception arises when you can possibly pick a better wide receiver.
